back from HongKong

basically HongKong is a more congested Singapore. The way they spend $ is more than Singaporeans, everybody is buying something, everyone wears birkenstocks (price about same as SG), all the young ones are so trendy (no see a nerdish one anywhere, all trendy tees and sneakers and hair...), imported cars... alot of mini coopers....

but the food is great. we stepped into any restaurants, the food is good... the hongkong chinese restaurants... the only problem is always what's in the menu coz the chinese is written in the traditional, not simplified way... and i dun really understand their cantonese, and vice versa.

since i've been slackin my ass the past few weeks... its about time to do something

1. go holiday. hong kong here we come!
2. be a stylist. for portraits and band photos. anybody is welcomed to call me for enquires.
3. be a DI person. build portfolio. since its quite close to drawing, or illustrations. :P
4. submit some 3d animation portfolio to try goin to frameworks. i just kinda lost hope in gettin recruited in the workforce, esp local broadcast industry.

hahaha... too diversed... but thats me. i wanna do everything.

welcome to the little girl series.

inspired by a bad bout of misunderstandings regarding certain materials possessions, i've decided to start afresh with little girl series.

basically, its a series of short stories. with little girl as the protagonist. enjoy. hope to turn it into picture book soon too!


'there was once this little girl, who has big ambitions.

little girl was good at a few things. namely gardening, piloting, and running.

gardening calms her down.

piloting, well, let's say she's good manipulating joysticks.

and she can really run.


little girl grew up (but not that much) and was doing full time air fighter piloting for career. money was good, but the stress & pressure was there.

in her free time, she can bonsai-fy a plain old boring shrub.

and little girl believes running can put her health in tip top conditions for piloting and gardening.




one day the air force hired someone better (probably older too), and she was no longer needed to fly full time. so little girl need to find a job quickly.

big walk!

we participated in TNP annual Big Walk for the 1st Time!

the feeling of walkin in the middle of the otherwise busy Nicole Highway is damn shiok! hahahaha I RULE THE ROAD! :P

we walked *almost* 10km, had lots of fun taking pictures of fellow participants as well as friends (mostly hubster's ex-colleagues), chat and walked. goodie bags include freebies like sunflower oil (!), centrium pills, Nova coffee mix, jacobs biscuit and lotsa flyers! really handy for burning as fuel. :P

i know i do sound bias, but TP really have a better group of PA ppl than SP. its pointless to have rehearsals if in the actual event everything went wrong.

sadly, this similar title in my earlier post seemed rather pathetic and self centred compared to what i'm goin to write.

its comin to the end of 2004, and how did it end?
5600+ (and counting) dead all over asia.
from a 8.9 earthquake near the west coast of central sumatra, causin huge tidal waves and drowning the coastal regions of india, sri lanka, bangladesh, thailand, malaysia and indonesia. this is 3 days following a 8.1 quake that struck in between australia and the antartica, altho no serious injuries were reported. tragically, majority of those killed are villagers, and tourists visiting the popular thailand beaches of phuket, phi phi island (the beach), ngai island etc.

come to think of it, we almost planed for a phi phi island holiday.
this IS the sign of the end of the world isn't it? it's in the bible. earthquakes.

i'm gettin jitters frm thinkin of performance on this coming friday. argh! havent been playin for a long time... bleargh!

on a good note tho, a friend loaned me his bass driver/DI effect pedal so i can at least TONE MY BLOODY SOUNDGEAR! after restringing it, it's been giving me the SUPER BRIGHT sound which i loathe..argh!!! *stress stress*

wat to do? no $$ to buy a good bass mah, can only get soundgear. :P

well, today was a suprising day, for my sister actually wanna come along to my jam session. she even tagged along for the whole day / night until we went back home together. AMAZING! for a girl who's only other activity in SG is playing the computer!

we (the band) started out with so much energy and enthusiasm all the way frm jurong to bedok, and to sentosa. the hype, the bonding. i tell ya, its the best. we are SO lookin forward to having a good time, totally not expecting to win. Thus our beach wear.

already knew my former all girl band is there at the finals too, and wonder who the other two is. when everyone's settled down and registered, found out that one other band pulled out (prob a waste of their time, which is TRUE) so there's only one other band to look out for.

WHAT A WONDERFULLY NICE AND SUPER GOOD BAND THEY ARE! (sense my hmmm sarcasm?)
saying things like 'HeY! Dont touch my amp over there!' loudly in reply to a casual 'So how's it?' question really put people off. not to mention those looks on their faces. gosh, one guy even looked like ricky. but least ricky's a nice boy. sheesh.

man, they thought they would win for sure. they have it good, no mistakes, everything went well... for them. for us? our drummer dropped his stix halfway, but we went on anyway. vox dropped his mobile too... i missed a few notes... and the other girl band didnt sound that fantastic coz they had problems with sound. bleah.
that moment in time, we rather the girl band win than them hao lians. gosh cant believe i even cheered them on when they went up to play! grrrr.

they hung ard like bees to honey, or groupies (ugly) to rockstars at the stage. wantin to find out when's the result. win for sure... while we chilled at the back tent... tryin to cool ourselves off (boy its damn hot). so when they announced 3rd prize is them hao lians.... BOY DID ALL OF US SCREAM OUR HEARTS OUT! altho i quit their band a while ago, we are still bitchy people. haha! so its either them or us, and we won. man.. ah liang jumped like a monkey. all of us were ECSTATIC!

split goodies, went makan (lousy food at sentosa ppl, thats why BK got long q's), and came back for concert. saw the band (hoo?) backstage. not exactly nice ppl, frm the impression i get. got our post party invites, managed to get chris the drummer to sign something, altho his face is _yeah watever kind_ and we went back out to the audience.

we really had a good time. they were good, energetic, made mistakes, doug stripped his top hmmm sang falsetto . the IMPRESSION WAS REALLY AWESOME. that was the joke people. we rushed back to bathe and change and took a cab down ($13) to indochine. and MAN! we shld have U-turned back. not waste more $$$. no autographs, no pictures, no talk. too many ppl, too many groupies (male AND female dont ask) gosh the attitude! damn disappointed at one of my favorite bands. very tempted to burn their original CD (which i brought) right in front of them.


lemme just end this one:
there's always better musicians, with a better attitude out there, that i rather put my $$$ with. kiss my @$$ un-nice ppl.

nah actually... just changed my bass strings... now my bass looks brand new. gave it a good scrub, esp on the frets (thick dirt ewww), polished the finishings... and Ta Da! bright sounding bass. :D

met up with ol jammin friends frm poly; jammed; sleep longer than 8 hrs straight; took photos; neglected my neopets; received bills that i forgot to pay *yet my bank only has a dollar*; dressed up my dolls but didnt bring them out to see the world, or bedok; installed a software to record audio; gave out my brand new office namecards; spend other ppl's $$ like linkin park concert and essentials like shampoo; change my bedsheets.

barely 3 mths, and i'm kinda feeling sianz at work... not due to workload, but more abt... colleagues. sometimes, maybe they are older, they probably think differently, or act differently, or maybe i'm just too overly sensitive. i'm paranoid abt what ppl think of me. yes, one part tells me fuck it off. yet, being a perfectionist, i cant help but want to please ppl. so since i cant please everyone, i'll just fuck off. as long as i do my job can leow. whoever wanna bitch abt me i cant stop anyone.
